Leo Joseph McGovern Sr., 83, passed away at his home in Destrehan on Saturday, May 26, 2012. He was a retired operator with the Public Sewage and Water Board in New Orleans, a veteran United States Naval Seaman with the USS Dixie and member of the Joint Task Force One Atomic Bomb Test Bikini Atoll, Marshall Islands.
Husband of the late Josephine Chiarello McGovern, son of the late Irene Norris and Charles McGovern, father of Leo J. McGovern Jr. (Carol), Bryan M. McGovern Sr. (Roxanne), Frank C. McGovern Sr. (Kay) and Kirk D. McGovern (Lisa). Brother of Harold and Theodore McGovern, Carol McGovern Albano and the late Charles McGovern II. Survived by ten grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and numerous friends.
Arrangements are under the direction of H. C. Alexander Funeral Home in Norco.
