Hat’s off to DHS scholars in national competition

Scott is the daughter of Jacqueline and Gregory Scott of Montz. She is the secretary of the Beta club, the treasurer of the DHS Honors Scholars, and is a member of the DHS National Honor Society, the Culture Club, Mu Alpha Theta and the WISE ecology club. Scott is also a wing commander with the award-winning DHS Air Force Junior ROTC. Scott has earned recognition as a principal’s scholar for the past three years. She won the RPCIC essay contest, and placed at the school and district science fairs.
Valicia Miller is the daughter of Vera and Richard Miller of St. Rose. She is currently a member of the varsity basketball and tennis teams. She serves as vice-president of Mu Alpha Theta, vice-president of the DHS Honors Scholars, and is a member of the Beta club, the DHS National Honor Society, the Science Olympiad and the Quiz Bowl team. She also participates in the DHS Culture Club choir. Miller has earned recognition as a principal’s scholar for three years and was a Times-Picayune Senior Salute. She has a perfect 4.0 GPA. She has been recognized by “Who’s Who Among American High School Students” for four years.

Court tosses out 75-year sentence - 964 views
A 43-year-old man who was sentenced to 75 years in jail for molestation of a juvenile and sexual battery will be retried after his sentence was thrown out by an appellate court due to a technicality.
