Arrests
•Samuel A. Blair, 23, of 1309 Independence Drive in New Orleans, was arrested on Feb. 3 and charged with forgery.
•Richard C. Ruffino II, 19, of 360 Rosedale Drive in Destrehan, was arrested on Feb. 6 and charged with theft of timber.
•Irvin R. Nunez, 22, of 2600 Houma Blvd. 412 in Metairie, was arrested on Feb. 5 and charged with possession/distribution of a legend drug - Meloxicam, possession distribution of a legend drug - Tramadol, vehicle requiring headlamp and requiring registration certificate.
•Daphine W. Alford, 50, of 218 Apple St. in Norco, was arrested on Feb. 9 and charged with D.W.I., open container, speeding and driver not licensed.
•Wilbert Celestine, 35, of 1613 Green Acres Road in Metairie, was arrested on Feb. 9 and charged with D.W.I., reckless operation and driver not licensed.
•Gary E. Shaw Sr., 57, of 738 Paul Maillard Road in Luling, was arrested on Feb. 8 and charged with cruelty to animals (2 cts.), rabies vaccine required (2 cts.), having dogs on tethers (2 cts.), pitbull registration required (2 cts.) and breeder registration required.
Thefts
•About $233 was stolen out of a vehicle at 771 E. Terrace St. in New Sarpy on Feb. 2.
•Two generator radiators, 400 feet of welding leads and electrical cable wires were stolen from 10017 LA 48 in St. Rose on Jan. 28.
•A Ford F-250 tail gate was stolen from 15396 Highway 90 in Paradis on Jan. 28.
•A Saints jersey, audio receiver and three surround-sound speakers were stolen from 311 Talbot Drive in Luling on Jan. 29.
•A hog trap, total value of $500, was stolen from 10385 Highway 61 in St. Rose on Feb. 11.
•A flat-screen TV and assorted DVDs, total value of $1,500, were stolen from 136 Kinler St. in Boutte on Feb. 10.
•An iPhone and case, total value of $525, were stolen from 15 Elmwood Court in Destrehan on Feb. 10.
•A gas grill and grill cover, total value of $485, were stolen from 109 Valcour Lane in Destrehan on Feb. 10.
•A flat-screen TV, computer and assorted jewelry were stolen from 423 Bernard Ave. in Ama on Feb. 10.
•Three truck batteries, total value of $300, were stolen from 10105 River Road in St. Rose on Feb. 11.
•Two computers, total value of $3,000, were stolen from 103 Barrett Drive in Luling on Feb. 12.
•A 4-wheeler was stolen from 169 Wisner St. in Paradis on Feb. 12.
•A 2002 Camero was stolen from 62 St. Anthony St. in Luling on Feb. 12.
•A Weedeater, Shop Vac, and a set of golf clubs, total value of $700, were stolen from 219 River Village Drive in Destrehan on Feb. 12.

Superintendent steps down to get down - 660 views
Dr. Rodney Lafon boiled down his decision to announce his retirement last month to a simple factor. With 40 years accumulated in the school system he had come to a point in his career where he would make nearly the same yearly salary as a retiree as if he chose to continue working.
