Spectacular ending for Super Bowl
It was a personality parade on television with Madonna singing and one of her co-stars giving the finger to the audience. Plus, the losing quarterback’s wife expressed her feelings about one of the receivers who missed her husband’s passes.
But otherwise, it was one of the most interesting endings in football history. When the six-yard path to a possible winning touchdown opened up with 57 seconds remaining in the game, Giants running back Ahmad Bradshaw hesitated as he approached the end zone, apparently thinking he should hold back and use up time. He had the choice of going ahead by four points or running the clock and kicking a field goal in the fading moments.
But what if a fumble or blocked kick ensued in the final seconds?.Catastrophe.
And if he scored the touchdown, the Patriots still had to go the length of the field to win. A field goal would not have done it.
Bradshaw made the right decision and fell over the goal line to get the lead. And then the finale began.
After a kickoff return, New England quarterback Tom Brady threw a pass out of bounds and then tossed a "Hail Mary" into the endzone. A gang of players went for it and it almost reached the arms of one but laid to rest on the end zone turf as Super Bowl XLVI came to an end.
Giants’ Quarterback Eli Manning then took center stage as the winning quarterback and MVP. It was maybe not one of the best games ever played in a Super Bowl but it had one of the most spectacular endings.
And by the way, the halftime show was spectacular and entertaining, too, in spite of the irreverence displayed.
The solution to our nation’s tax inequities is not to raise taxes on the rich but to reform the taxes that are already in place.
Many rich people get by paying at a much lesser rate than those of average income because they hire experts who can manipulate through the inequities in the system. And there are some in all income groups who get by without declaring part of their income or not paying taxes at all. It’s illegal, of course.
And if we can’t enforce that law, we should do away with income taxes and support government in another way.
