Joe Horn on New Orleans’ greatest catch
Number one on Horn’s list of eateries? Fisherman’s Cove Seafood. Located near the New Orleans airport, in Kenner, LA, this quaint restaurant is a hidden treasure according to Horn and tops his list of favorites.
“It’s not a hole-in-the-wall, Fisherman’s Cove is a nice little spot,” says Horn. “They have some good shrimp and I like the broiled crawfish there as well.”
When looking for a quality piece of meat, Horn and his family go to the Jazz Seafood and Steak House, where he jokingly admits to the Saints’ play-by play announcer, Deke Bellavia that he’s a big eater.
“I’ll eat an appetizer and my wife will say that it is big enough to be my whole meal,” says Horn. “But, when I’m at the Jazz Steak House, I typically order a T-bone steak with the grilled chicken.”
There is no joking matter when discussing Horn’s favorite type of food in New Orleans, admitting during his “Alltel Audibles” podcast that there is no better place for seafood than New Orleans.
“Mostly everywhere you go around Louisiana is going to have some good seafood, so you can’t miss it. If you go to a spot and you want some good food and you see gumbo or fried fish, STOP, because it’s going to be good,” says Horn.
