Digital Media Team Members from the Satellite Center in Luling participated in a field experience at Garrity Print Solutions in Harahan on Jan. 20.

Garrity Print Solutions is one of the largest commercial printers in the Southeastern United States. The team members were given a tour of the facilities by Brian David, who explained the step-by-step process of how the company operates.

Team members were shown how jobs get from conception to different types of printing presses, binding machines (if necessary) and cutting machines to produce the final products. Every process was seen in action and, through that, Digital Media students gained a better understanding of how the business of printing, which frequently coincides with that of graphic design, functions.
