Destrehan man pays high price for illegal DVD

Shane Helds, 26, of 123 Ormond Village Dr., Destrehan, has been sentenced to five years in prison with two suspended after pleading guilty to possession of child pornography.

Helds will be required to register as a sex offender after his release in three years, Judge Robert Chaisson, who presided in the case, ruled.
Helds was arrested in July after an ex-girlfriend discovered videos that depicted children engaging in sexual acts with adults and also alone.

According to the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office, Helds had contacted the former girlfriend asking her to return a computer and his “pornography collection.”

While the woman was retrieving the items, she found pornographic material, and called the authorities, the official record shows.
