He was a native of Bayou Gauche and a resident of Marrero. He is survived by his companion, Nellie Faye Donehoo, son, Brian Dufrene Sr. (wife Paula Sue Dufrene), daughters, Cheryl Dufrene, Cynthia Dufrene Jones and Charlotte Dufrene Liner (husband Wade Liner); several grandchildren and great grandchildren, ex-wife, Earline Badeaux Dufrene, sisters Helen Dufrene Dunn and Rita Mae Dufrene Badeaux, and brother, Doodie Lester Dufrene. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Domatile Dufrene, brothers, Francis, Adam and Junior Dufrene; sisters, Eve Thibodeaux and Agnes Vinet, and half-brother, Tony Hebert. He was a tug boat captain.
Westside Funeral Home in Marrero was in charge of arrangements. Visitation was held Jan. 2, 2012.
