The redemption of Jordan Jefferson
Analysts from all across the country were talking up the strong-armed quarterback during the summer and signaling out the improvement he had made in his mechanics. But just before the season started, Jefferson’s alleged involvement in a bar fight in Baton Rouge got him suspended from the football team.
After missing four games, Jefferson was reinstated before the Kentucky game. In his first game of the season, he scored his team’s first touchdown.
That began Jefferson’s redemption.
Though fellow senior Jarrett Lee remained the starter, Jefferson came in when needed and did not cause any distractions to the LSU football team. Though he wasn’t required to throw often, Jefferson still made some big plays with his legs in LSU wins over Florida, Tennessee and Auburn.
Then came Alabama.
With Lee struggling out the gate and throwing two key interceptions, LSU coach Les Miles turned to Jefferson and the senior responded.
Though his numbers were far from outstanding, Jefferson completed 6 of his 10 passes for 67 yards. One of those completions went for 34 yards to Russell Shepard and allowed the Tigers to tie the game at 3-3 at the break.
On that drive, Jefferson led the Tigers from their own 24 to the Alabama 2, which was by far LSU’s best series of the game. Jefferson also used his legs to get by Alabama’s stiff defense, rushing for 46 yards on 11 carries.
His ability to limit mistakes and keep the Tigers calm on the field proved to be the difference in the Tigers’ 9-6 victory. The Alabama game proved that Jefferson is an important cog in the LSU championship run and he will be called upon in the Tigers remaining SEC games against Ole Miss, Arkansas and in the probable SEC Championship Game.
But even if the Tigers don’t win it all this year, one thing is clear.
Jordan Jefferson has earned his redemption.

State asked to investigate Hahnville fire department - 1397 views
After months of bickering within the Hahnville Volunteer Fire Department (HVFD) and allegations of mismanaged funds, the fire service members have finally agreed on one thing – the organization should undergo a forensic legislative audit to determine if any money was misappropriated during the reign of former Fire Chief Reginald Gaubert.
