Destrehan coach says game serves as dress rehearsal for season

Junior Destrehan receiver Alfred Smith is one of six talented wideouts that quarterback Donovan Isom will throw to this season. Fans will get their first look at Smith Thursday when the Wildcats take on Lutcher at 6 p.m. in the Ed Reed Jamboree. The Destrehan Wildcats will get one final tune up for the 2013 season when they take on Lutcher in the Ed Reed River Parishes Jamboree Thursday night at 6 p.m.

Ever since Charlie Stubbs took over the head coaching reigns at Nicholls State back in 2010, he has tried to add some size and physicality along both his offensive and defensive lines and do a better job of recruiting the talent rich River Parishes area.

Junior linebacker RaeJuan Marbley was named the Herald-Guide’s Defensive Player of the Year for the Wildacts. There was little doubt who would be named Destrehan’s Defensive Player of the Year, but junior linebacker RaeJuan Marbley’s selection became official.
