Though the Wildcats trailed 13-0 at the half, they stormed back for a 27-20 win. The past few weeks have not been kind to the Destrehan Wildcats with four consecutive losses to four of the best teams in the state. While that trend seemed like it was going to continue at halftime last Friday as the East Ascension Spartans held a 13-0 lead, the Wildcats pulled out a stunning 27-point second half to take the game 27-20.

Destrehan cornerback Joshua Dewey and defensive lineman Joe Sharp keep East St. John running back Andrew Taylor from picking up a first down in last week’s 49-14 loss. Destrehan wrapped up the most brutal stretch of their schedule without a win as they lost to four ranked teams, including Lutcher, Dutchtown, Hahnville and East St. John by combined score of 155-46.

Destrehan has played an extremely tough schedule and will face their fourth-straight ranked team this Friday when they host East St. John on After falling to rival Hahnville 35-14, the Destrehan Wildcats must regroup if they hope to get into the playoffs and make some noise. But the road doesn't get any easier Friday night, as they host No. 6-ranked East St. John.
Stroud: Key to victory is which team can establish, or stop run

Destrehan quarterback Dillan Dent fights for extra yards during his team’s 44-10 loss to Dutchtown last week. Dent is extremely quick and difficult to bring down for opposing linemen. The one-two punch of running back Effrem Reed and quarterback Leon Blouin was just too much for Destrehan to handle last Friday night as the Wildcats fell 44-10 to the Dutchtown Griffins. The loss took the Wildcats down to 2-4 on the season and 0-1 in district play.
