Wildcat sophomore speedster Rickey Jefferson flies downfield on his 32-yard touchdown in the first quarter against Thibodaux. Destrehan shocked many by knocking off the Tigers 27-12. After a heartbreaking loss to Helen Cox, the Destrehan Wildcats had something to prove against Thibodaux. They made quite a statement.

The Wildcats didn’t resemble the team that lost last week on a last second field goal to Helen Cox. Instead, a fired-up Destrehan squad used dominant defense and a power running game to gash No. 7 ranked Thibodaux 27-12.

Coach impressed by defense, still needs offense to get on roll

Destrehan quarterback Taylor Dunn is chased from the pocket during the Wildcats 20-7 jamboree loss to Lutcher. Dunn struggled in the first half of the jamboree, but threw a 27-yard touchdown in the second half. In both the preseason scrimmage and the jamboree, Destrehan head coach Chris Stroud has singled out the play of his defense, which has managed to hold a pair of talented offenses in check.
