East St. John scores two touchdowns in final minutes to stun Destrehan

With just under seven minutes left in the game and his team already up by a touchdown, Destrehan junior cornerback Denzel Arceneaux fielded a squib kickoff, cut left and raced 68 yards down the field to put the Wildcats up 31-24 with 6:44 left in the game.

Last week’s 41-21 win over Higgins was a milestone of sorts for the Destrehan Wildcats, giving the program their first district win since 2010. But Destrehan’s goal this season isn’t to win a couple of district games. Instead, the team is gunning for the league championship.
