Herald-Guide's Destrehan defensive player of the year

Junior linebacker RaeJuan Marbley was named the Herald-Guide’s Defensive Player of the Year for the Wildacts. There was little doubt who would be named Destrehan’s Defensive Player of the Year, but junior linebacker RaeJuan Marbley’s selection became official.

Destrehan junior receiver Michael Smith has been a huge weapon for the Wildcats in their passing game. He scored two touchdowns last week. All season long, Destrehan has been a strong football team in the second half, but the Wildcats failed to hang on to a 34-21 lead with only six minutes left in a stunning loss to East St. John last week.

With just under seven minutes left in the game and his team already up by a touchdown, Destrehan junior cornerback Denzel Arceneaux fielded a squib kickoff, cut left and raced 68 yards down the field to put the Wildcats up 31-24 with 6:44 left in the game.
