Destrehan defense leads team to win over Ehret |
|
Destrehan wasted little time getting on the scoreboard, when defensive lineman Marrick Charles picked off the ball at the 22-yard line and rumbled his way to the 13. Dent’s first carry went for negative yardage, but the quarterback would eventually use his quick feet to escape pressure while rolling to the left to find De’Ante Armstrong in the endzone.
Both defenses dominated from that point on, with neither offense managing to sustain any long drives. But to begin the third quarter, sophomore Rickey Jefferson returned the kickoff 92-yards to give his team all the points they would need for the victory.
The Wildcats (2-2) will host Lutcher next week. For more information from the Destrehan/Ehret game, as well as a preview of the Destrehan/Lutcher game, see the Sept. 30 issue of the Herald-Guide.
