Destrehan stuns Thibodaux, 27-12
The Wildcats didn’t resemble the team that lost last week on a last second field goal to Helen Cox. Instead, a fired-up Destrehan squad used dominant defense and a power running game to gash No. 7 ranked Thibodaux 27-12.

While Destrehan mostly kept the ball on the ground, they did open up the offense, with quarterback Taylor Dunn connecting on several short and intermediate passes to set up the run.

In fact, the Wildcats first score came on a 32-yard touchdown pass from Dunn to Rickey Jefferson with 6:37 left in the first quarter.

After a Freddie Jackson sack and fumble recovery, Destrehan marched down the field with Dunn connecting with De’Ante Armstrong for an 18-yard pass that set up a five-yard touchdown run by Kevin Smith to put the Wildcats on top 14-0 with 1:13 left in the half.

Thibodaux would get right back into the game less than a minute later when  quarterback Trent Granier lofted an 86-yard pass to make the score 14-6. The Tigers would get to within two after a 40-yard touchdown run in the third quarter, but the Wildcats would put the game away in the fourth.

Mark Trudeaux had several nice runs that brought his team to the goal line, and eventually pushed the ball in to give Destrehan a 21-12 lead. The defense would get the last score when Orelyn Chopin intercepted Granier near midfield and brought the ball all the way to the endzone.
