Destrehan Wildcats: All-District 1st Team

From staff and wire reports
Destrehan Wildcats: All-District 1st Team
Kevin Smith, Noland Sharpe, Dereck Robinson, Daniel Cimino, Spencer Bentley

Kevin Smith

Running Back

In 2011, Destrehan's offense went as far as senior running back Kevin Smith could carry it. Smith, who also played defense, rushed for 808 yards on 137 attempts, which equates to 5.8 yards per carry. Smith also scored nine touchdowns for the Wildcats.

Noland Sharpe

Offensive Lineman

When running back Kevin Smith broke through the line, many of his big carries were behind junior offensive lineman Noland Sharpe. The 6'2, 245-pound lineman not only paved the way for Smith on numerous carries, but also kept defenders off the back of his quarterback.

Dereck Robinson

Defensive Lineman

Destrehan senior defensive tackle Dereck Robinson was his team's primary run stopper, recording 64 solo tackles and nine assists. Robinson also got into the backfield on a regular basis, finishing the regular season with 23 tackles for loss and five sacks. He also caused four fumbles and recovered two.

Daniel Cimino

Kicker, Punter

Destrehan senior kicker/punter Daniel Cimino was a busy man in 2011. Cimino punted 42 times for the Wildcats for a 38.1 average. He also connected on 20 extra points and nailed five field goals for the Wildcats.

Spencer Bentley

Defensive Back

Destrehan senior defensive back Spencer Bentley has been a three-year starter for the Wildcats, and wrapped up his final high school season with some impressive stats. Bentley finished the year with 43 solo tackles, 21 assists, two tackles for loss, two fumble recoveries and a caused fumble.
