Lady Tigers continue to roll over district competition

The Hahnville Lady Tigers (18-4) remained undefeated in district play by blowing past East St. John, 23-1, for their tenth league win. Hahnville also picked up a big out-of-district win over Dominican on Friday before falling to Mt. Carmel, 4-1, on Saturday.
Wildcats cruise to 5-1 district mark

Since opening district play with a loss to Terrebonne, the Destrehan Wildcats (14-10) have reeled off five straight wins to take a share of first place in District 7-5A. In the last week, the Wildcats cemented their position at the top of the standings by scoring 24 runs in victories over South Lafourche and H.L. Bourgeois.

Lady Wildcats crush South Lafourche, beat C. Lafourche

The Destrehan Lady Wildcats cruised past South Lafourche and held on down the stretch for a close win over Central Lafourche to move to 9-1 in district play.

HHS boys, girls track teams dominate Don Raymond Relays

The Hahnville Tigers boys and girls track teams put on a show at the Don Raymond Relays on Friday, with each team finishing first in the event to beat out programs from Jesuit, Lutcher, Thomas Jefferson, Higgins and Destrehan.

•Ellis Jones, 24, of 1926 Dumaine St. in New Orleans, was arrested on March 22, and charged with second offense possession of synthetic marijuana, vehicle requiring head lights, false certificate, no insurance, driver’s license suspended and resisting arrest by refusing to provide identification.

After all of the cold, icy weather over the winter, St. Rose Elementary students in Kristin Tabb’s 4th grade writing class recently took advantage of the beautiful weather and held their writers’ workshop outside.


Katherine “Kathy” Thompson, 50, a native of Bayou Gauche, and resident of Franklinton, passed away on Friday, March 28.
On April 3, Sister Geraldine Villavaso Robinson (Hill) departed this life to be with her Heavenly Father. She was born on July 8, 1944 and was a native of St. James.
Michael “Mike” W. Hebert Sr., 70, passed away on Saturday, April 5.
