A Kansas couple was killed on LA 3127 last week after a Peterbilt dump truck veered into their lane and struck their 2008 Toyota Highlander, according to the Louisiana State Police.

Construction is set to begin on a new DMV that will almost triple the size of the current department that is located in the courthouse. Parish President V.J. St. Pierre said the new building should be complete by the end of the year.

Police: Boutte man fights off shotgun-wielding home invaders
A Boutte man that awoke to find four men in his home threatening his life was able to fight back against the invaders and capture one until help arrived, according to the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office.

The Hahnville Tigers emerged victorious and secured bragging rights in St. Charles Parish's most anticipated game of the year as they defeated the Destrehan Wildcats 35-14 on Friday. But, as big as that game was to the fans and the players, the Tigers have a much more daunting task this week facing the No. 3 Dutchtown Griffins.

Fertilizer not needed in diversions

Dead zones are beginning to show up within the coast of Louisiana as well as offshore due to heavy diversions of Mississippi River water to help push back intrusions of oil from the recent spill in the Gulf. It gives us more reason than ever to insist that over-fertilization of farms along the river be firmly stopped for good.

The planned closing of Willowdale Country Club in Luling on November 1comes as a shock and great disappointment to many residents of St. Charles Parish. It is a happening they feared but did not definitely foresee.
