Bucket Brigade calls refineries unsafe, releases accident report
From 2005 to 2008, ten of the stateís largest refineries, two of which are in St. Charles Parish, reported over 2,000 accidents that resulted in the release of millions of pounds and gallons of pollutants near schools, waterways and neighborhoods, according to a report released by the Louisiana Bucket Brigade.

Corps clearing land on Hwy. 90 for western levee
Many residents driving on Highway 90 near the Davis Pond Diversion think that the parish is already clearing land for a new boat launch. While Parish President V.J. St. Pierre and his administration are working on securing land for that project, the actual clearing is being done by the Army Corps of Engineers for the Western Tie-in.

Police: Robber forces friend to serve as getaway driver
Man accused of robbing Destrehan Valero station
Dervol J. Zeno, 28, of 533 Fife St. in LaPlace, was arrested on Dec. 22 for reportedly robbing the Valero Corner Market in Destrehan and then forcing a friend to drive him home at gun point.

Second man arrested in break-in that led to death
Aaron Vinnett St. Charles Parish sheriffís deputies have arrested a St. Rose man for taking part in an attempted burglary that led to another suspect being killed by the homeowner.
